    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains how buildingai.in ("the site", "we") handles personal data. The site is run by Avaneesh Yadav from India. If anything here is unclear, email avaneeshyadav@buildingai.in.

    What we collect

    • Account details. If you create a free account: your first name (optional), email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, Clerk, and are never visible to us.
    • Consent record. When you sign up we record which version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted, whether you opted in to the newsletter, the time, and the IP address and browser user-agent used. We keep this as evidence of your choices.
    • Newsletter. If you opt in (at signup or through a subscribe form), your email address is stored by our newsletter provider, Buttondown.
    • Forms you submit. Contact, inquiry and prompt-submission forms: whatever you write, plus your email address.
    • AI features. Text you type into the site chatbot, article Q&A and tools is sent to Groq to generate a reply. Please don't enter sensitive personal information.
    • Usage data. Page views and device information through Vercel Analytics and, where enabled, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
    • Comments. Article comments are provided by Giscus and stored in GitHub Discussions under your GitHub account.
    • Payments. If paid courses are enabled, payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your card details.

    Why we use it

    • To run your account and unlock the features that need one (agreement with you).
    • To send the newsletter, only if you opted in (your consent).
    • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and keep a record of consent (legitimate interest).
    • To understand traffic and improve the site (legitimate interest, or your consent where the law requires it).

    Who processes your data

We use these service providers, who process data on our behalf: Clerk (sign-in and accounts), Buttondown (newsletter), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Groq (AI replies), Google and Microsoft (analytics, where enabled), GitHub (comments), Razorpay (payments) and Google Workspace/Gmail (receiving form messages). Some of them process data in the United States or other countries outside India and the EU. We do not sell personal data.

    Cookies

On pages that use accounts (sign up, sign in, the prompt library and quiz results) our sign-in provider sets cookies such as __client_uat and __session. These are needed to keep you signed in.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies. They load only if you choose "Accept analytics" in the banner, and you can change that choice any time from "Cookie settings" in the footer. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies.

Your account data and your choices

If you have an account, we store the courses you enrolled in, the lessons you completed and your best quiz scores with your account, so they follow you across devices. In your account you can download this data, change your email, name or password, and delete your account. Deleting your account removes it from our sign-in provider. A newsletter subscription is held separately by Buttondown, so also use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us, to be removed from the list.

    How long we keep it

Account details and the consent record are kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete them. Newsletter details stay with Buttondown until you unsubscribe. Form messages are kept as long as needed to reply and for reasonable record-keeping. Subscription status in the newsletter provider is the source of truth: the consent record on your account shows what you chose at signup, not whether you have since unsubscribed.

    Your rights and choices

    • Unsubscribe. Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. This withdraws your newsletter consent at any time.
    • Access, correct or delete. Email avaneeshyadav@buildingai.in and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete it along with the consent record.
    • Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

    Children

Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

    Changes

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above and, for account holders, ask again for agreement where the law requires it.
